Chrell Ionstrøm Kemnitz

Chrell Ionstrøm Kemnitz is a registered E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, and a massage therapist with 25+ years experience in his field.  His goal in teaching is to support his students to surrender to their own unique self and bring out their honest and natural way of moving, teaching and being.

He loves to bring yoga down to a functional everyday level, and he is a master in using small, precise adjustments and cues to take his students beyond habitual movement patterns.

Chrell started his spiritual journey with yoga, meditation and healing work at the age of 13, and his curiosity and self-exploration through yoga and movement therapy, has been guiding him ever since. His deep fascination for alignment led him to intense studies of Structural Integration Massage, Thai Chi, Chi Gong, dance and Alexander Technique. He sees the journey of experiencing life through body-awareness as his biggest adventure and path in life.

Chrell has been studying Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa and Anusara with masters worldwide, such as Leslie Kaminoff, Ray Long, Jonas Westring and Peter Kaaberbøl. He loves slackline, dancing, house-building from recycled materials, and the karma-yoga of being a father and a husband .

With years of studies in anatomy, physiology and pathology, more than 1000 hours of yoga teacher trainings, self-development trainings, bodywork and self-studies, he’s a lifelong student and an incredible teacher.

He opened his first bodywork clinic in 1998, working with Structural Integration Massage, integrating yoga as a self-help tool for his clients. Since 2011 he’s been part of the YTT faculty at LagoYoga (Copenhagen, Denmark), and from 2016 also at Axelsons YTT in Sweden and Norway. Chrell’s thousands of individual sessions with bodywork and more than 5000 yoga teaching hours has given him a deep understanding of students unique biomechanics and how to meet a group of individuals with different preconditions.

His decades of practice has cultivated a gift of guiding the focus of his students through their own somatic experience in a class. He knows to read the room and keep the focus in the classes sharp with a light spirit and a sense of humor.

Teaching Philosophy

Through a life-long journey of exploring body-awareness, Chrell has found his passion in exploring our relation to gravity, as a profound yet simple tool for aligning with our inner authority and tapping into the unconscious patterns of the mind.

Gravity, Breath, Acceptance and Curiosity are key in what Chrell wants to share.

Our body posture and our breath is constantly reflecting what is happening on the inside. So when we turn our attention towards our body and breath, we can become more aware of what is being reflected, and take ownership of our experience. From that awareness, we can try making conscious changes to our breath or the way we hold our body in space. Does it make me feel, think, and relate differently when I make small, conscious adjustments?

Despite striving for knowledge, Chrell holds the realization that he doesn’t know… as fuel for an open curiosity, and a respect for the uniqueness of all individuals. His favorite Quote is: Don’t worry! – You have no control!

Surrendering to life’s flow allows you to be curious and explore the present moment without judgement. Chrell’s teaching extends beyond the mat, making everyday activities like eating, toothbrushing, and walking mindful practices.

Through the classes on this retreat, you will be guided into every part of the body and the story it tells you.

Join Chrell on this extraordinary retreat to realign your body and embrace your uniqueness, regardless of your experience level. Discover a somatic journey that connects you to your center on the planet.

Your Potential to Breathe

Breathing is something we do all life without having to give it a single thought. Yet, every thought will have an impact on the breath, and every breath will have an impact on our mental state. Our patterns of movement and thought, will affect the way we breathe.

In this workshop we will explore the shape changing quality of the breath. We will explore the breath by mindfully engaging different accessory muscles, to open the body for a deeper breath. By changing the shape, we can free the breath where its restricted and open for the emotional expressions it connects to.

We will explore our breath through both theory and exercises, to get a deep anatomical as well as somatic understanding!

This workshop is 90 minutes, and the cost is $40 (Or $90 for all 3 workshops)

Individualize Your Yoga Practice

When you enhance the body’s relation to gravity, the inherent structural equilibrium provides better support, and you’ll need less muscular support. This frees a lot of energy and allows you to move, sit and stand more relaxed.

Since 1996, Body Readings has been part of my work and passion, and I am excited to share some of my experience on this workshop.

We all have different structural dis-alignments. It’s perfectly normal- but individual. Let’s say; one person might have a significant lower back curve, while the other person has very little. One has a right hip higher than the other while the other’s left hip is higher. These individuals will have different needs in their practice, which is not met in normal classes.

In this workshop you will become more aware of some of your personal patterns. which specific yoga poses and self-adjustments that could be good for you to integrate in your regular practice to enhance your postural alignment.

This workshop is 90 minutes, and the cost is $40 (Or $90 for all 3 workshops)

Walking Yogi

Walking on our two feet, is probably the most significant movement pattern to being human. But since you learned to walk as a child, have you ever thought about how you do it?  Inspired by his Thai Ci and Mana Therapi teacher Sol Pedersons, Chrell found that working with enhancing his clients gait patterns had an amazing healing effect on many problems.

In this Workshop we will look at how the alignment patterns from Yoga, is deeply connected in motion with walking.

We’ll throw the shoes of and awaken the healing potential from our natural connecting to earth, and start learning to walk again. Bringing awareness to your walk, can make every step in life a way to mindfulness and better health!

This workshop is 90 minutes, and the cost is $40 (Or $90 for all 3 workshops)
