Our weekly retreats run all year long, so when you book your stay with us the FIRST STEP is to choose the week that works best with your schedule. Every week we have different guest yoga teachers from around the world that come to teach at Anamaya bringing their unique talents and energy. Our retreats run from Saturday to Saturday.
The price of your retreat starts with your BASE RATE (which includes your accommodations and meals). Excursions, workshops, and other add-ons you choose to customize your week will be added to your final bill at Anamaya.

Joan’s lifelong passion for activity and movement grew into a vibrant career in the Fitness, Health and Wellness industry. As an athlete, she always knew that she felt the most passionate, joyful and happy when she was training and moving. She found that her Yoga practice offered a wonderful addition to her own personal training program as it holistically connected her body, mind and spirit to a positive and healthy place.
Joan’s Yoga teacher journey offered her the opportunity to explore many different practices including Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga across North America. She is grateful to have had the chance to train and experience the authenticity, sincerity and generosity of so many wonderful yoga teachers, trainers and leaders. Her journey also included a commitment to gain additional training, experience and certifications in specialty areas including; Sustainable Yoga throughout Aging, Yoga for Athletes, Yoga for Women’s Health, Biomechanics and Anatomy, Restorative and Yin Yoga, Yoga for Pain Care; Self-Myofascial Release, Advanced Asana Study, and Meditation Leadership. This training gives her the resources to assist and accommodate the unique needs of each of her participants.
In addition to operating 13 fitness centres on acute care sites across Alberta, Canada, she also runs her own Yoga program: ‘Y.O.G.A. Your Own Great Adventure’. With the goal of building a welcoming and diverse yoga community, it is her hope that her yoga classes will offer an accepting, unique and uplifting experience for all participants. She is committed to challenging and celebrating each individual by leading a practice that combines the foundational basics of breath with movement, with athleticism and options to ignite everyone’s yoga soul.
Joan lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with her family. She is a proud 500hr RYT and 50hr Meditation Teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, a BEd in Special Education and a Master’s in Business Administration. She is internationally certified through Fitness Alberta as a Trainer-Educator of fitness leaders.
Anamaya provides a healthy, warm and inviting space to practice Yoga and take care of one’s self. Joan is looking forward to returning to Anamaya and sharing a wonderful week of warm yoga practice with their valued guests.
Joan’s philosophy in guiding a yoga practice is to allow participants to come to their mats to practice at their own level for their own personal reasons, always feeling respected and supported. Although yoga provides a platform of common ground and community, it also acknowledges and accepts the individual’s reasons and abilities for practicing. She is honored to be joining the valued guests of Anamaya on the yoga deck and looks forward to sharing a warm and wonderful week of yoga practice.
I love to teach yoga. I love to share the experience of a yoga practice. I offer this workshop with the intention of providing each participant with an individual experience that will ignite personal self-care, foster self-love and build both physical and mental resilience.
The Yoga practice provides us with a beautiful platform to attend to our body, our mind and our soul. I call this practice “mindful movement” as we will challenge not only the performance of the physical asana but we will also acknowledge our thoughts and feelings with each pose. The meditation included in this workshop is a self-love meditation practice. My goal is to provide an in depth personal and holistic yoga practice with the support and acceptance needed to comfortably delve deeper and grow one’s yoga experience.
