A brief description of his methods:

Axis: Based on the teaching of B.K.S. Iyengar. The focus is the correct alignment of the body using props, but not as much as in Iyengar Yoga; Dynamic is based on the teaching of Pattabhi Jois (Ashtanga Vinyasa), where the postures can be done by most practicioners; Sattva Chikitsa: All the postures are done with the wall (very therapeutic); Sattva Vinyasa: a fluid fix sequence of posture; Prana Shakti: Each movement is coordinated with the breath (pure energy work)

Gustavo Speaks fluently 6 languages: Japanese, English, French, Danish, Portugues, Spanish and lived 20 years in Japan, 10 in Europe and 3 in India and one in the USA. He was Ambassador of Chile to Japan and also worked as CEO of an important multinational company in Belgium. He is a surviver of a very aggressive cancer, a Linfoma. He has published 15 books on yoga, all in Spanish, except two: one in English and one in Portuguees. In Japan he taught languages when he was a student at the University and later on worked at the Fuji Tv. as a story teller.

Philosophy

Gustavo´s mission in life is to share, unselfishly, his yoga knowledge and life experiences. For him yoga is much more than being supple and in good physical shape. Yoga is a marvelous tool to awaken into altered levels of consciousness in the process of selfknowing, which normally escape to the ordinary person. So in his classes you will find physical excercises (internal and external), respiratory and meditative thecniques.

In his teaching you will find a blend of all the methods he developed as he adapts his teaching to the level and interest of his students. The morning practice is rather vigorous, center in the correct muscle esqueletical alignment. Sometimes the poses he uses are held for sometime, or are connected in a fluid way. Never a class will repeat itself! Every day is a new challenge! The evening class is always more introspective with enphasis is breathing, relaxation and poses that allows a deep inner connection. You will feel totally renovated. Also he uses many unknown thecniques to re-program the nervous system in order to better deal with frecuent difficulties of modern society: stress, insomnia, anger, deppession, etc. In other words, yogatherapy not only for the body, but also for the emotions and the mind.

Awakening the Subtle Energy of the Body Workshops

Pranayama

In Sanskrit this word means “conscious regulation of the breath”. We breathe in one day approximately 21.600 times and we do not realize we are breathing. We do not realize that learning to use the lungs’ full capacity not only prolongs our lives, bringing us more and more joy to the present moment, but also many of the techniques developed by the ancient sages of India can be very therapeutic, helping us to deal and cure a wide range of modern illnesses like asthma, insomnia, depression, anxiety, stress and other emotional imbalances. We will start this two hour workshop preparing the body for Pranayama and we will end it with a meditation and deep guided relaxation. Price $45.

Inverted Poses and Hands On Adjustments

This is a two hour workshop, which will start by preparing the body for being inverted, as it is not recommendable to start right away inverting the body. Some specific poses to prepare the body will be done, and it’s more fun when done in couples, helping and adjusting each other. But why inverted poses? From the medical point of view, they are excellent to revitalize all the internal organs; the heart does not need to work as hard to pump blood to the brain and helps the heart to remain young and healthy. One who does regularly Head Stand will never suffer from heart arrest! From the emotional point of view, inverted poses teach us to deal with our fears and prepare us to deal with the challenges that life is always presenting us. We will end this workshop with counter-poses and of course with a good guided relaxation. Price $45.

Package price is $80 for both workshops.
