Meet Karen – A Global Yogi with Heart-Centered Wisdom
Karen’s journey with yoga began in her early years, practicing Satyananda yoga in Australia. Over the years, her passion for yoga has taken her across the globe, teaching and practicing in the Sacred Valley of Peru, Canada, California, Australia, and Costa Rica, where she now calls home. With more than 1,000 hours of training, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge to her classes, offering a variety of styles including Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, and Yin.
Her deep connection to the yogic path and surf life reflects her dedication to living with balance, presence, and joy. Karen teaches full-time at studios, ashrams, retreat centers, and yoga teacher trainings, continuously evolving through self-study and immersion with fellow teachers, spiritual leaders, and communities around the world. Inspired by the sacred teachings of Peru and the devotional spirit of Bhakti yoga, Karen infuses every class with soulful intention and playfulness.
Karen’s love for Yin yoga, sparked by her studies with Bernie Clark and Kali Durga, has become a cornerstone of her teaching. She is passionate about helping others experience the transformative benefits of Yin and guiding students to integrate these principles into their daily lives.
What sets Karen apart as a teacher is her belief that yoga is more than just movement – it’s an honor, a privilege, and a profound act of service. She teaches not from superiority, but from lived experience – having walked through challenges, risen from the ashes, and emerged stronger with each transformation. Her teachings reflect her personal evolution, allowing her to meet students with authenticity, depth, and compassion.
For Karen, every class is sacred – a place to honor the divine within each student and to offer an invitation to reconnect with their universal truth and beauty. Teaching yoga is her worship, and holding space for transformation is her deepest joy. Karen feels blessed to bring this spirit of awareness, love, and gratitude to her students at Anamaya Yoga Resort.
