Two Rivers Yoga 200hr Yoga Teacher Training: Blending traditional wisdom and philosophy with modern day applications.
“I did my YTT with Michelle last year. The way she combined mind and body made her classes the most powerful and moving experiences I’ve ever had with yoga. She led by example by creating a learning environment that was fun, caring, and comfortable for all of us. I truly feel so lucky to have known and learned from her – thank you Michelle!!” -Isabel

Michelle Garcia aka First Nations Yogini is the founder of Two Rivers Yoga, an international yoga school uniting traditional and modern yoga through authenticity and inclusivity.
Michelle’s yoga journey began unexpectedly when she stumbled into a pop-up class after her barista shift in Grand Forks, BC. From that first savasana, she was hooked. Since 2009, she’s immersed herself in yoga’s transformative power, becoming a teacher in 2015 with over 7,000 teaching hours and 1,500+ hours of advanced training across hatha, vinyasa, prenatal, yin, restorative, and yoga nidra.
Michelle creates a harmonious blend of energetic sequences and yogic philosophy, punctuated by introspective moments of slow fascial release and deep relaxation. She’s known for her sacred, nurturing spaces where students explore their inner landscape and embark on self-discovery journeys.
Since 2021, Michelle has led over 35 teacher training programs across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Peru, and Costa Rica. Her dynamic, inclusive yoga school honors yoga’s rich traditions while embracing modern methodologies. She believes every individual carries unique wisdom that translates into authentic, impactful teaching, creating nurturing environments where aspiring teachers cultivate their strengths and build confidence.
Whether guiding personal practice or mentoring new teachers, Michelle’s mission remains the same: helping others find peace, presence, and purpose through yoga. When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her basking in the sun, trekking through jungles, or making margaritas – and she’s never met a cat she didn’t want to befriend.
Danielle Hoguet is a yoga teacher from the city of Philadelphia, with a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
Danielle’s path to teaching began in the dance world, where her deep fascination with movement and the human body first took root. When dance injuries shifted her focus, she pursued a doctorate in Physical Therapy – but it was her soul’s longing for a heart-centered practice that ultimately brought her to yoga.
Since completing her first teacher training in 2017, Danielle has embraced her role as both eternal student and dedicated educator. A true lover of learning, she’s accumulated 500+ hours of yoga teacher training, certifications in reiki and restorative yoga, and over 2,500 teaching hours. Since 2021, she’s been facilitating teacher trainings and workshops… work she considers among her greatest joys.
Danielle’s teaching philosophy centers on building strong foundational alignment while cultivating breath fluidity and energetic body activation. Her physical therapy background allows her to expertly guide students through safe practices, skillfully accommodating injuries, restrictions, and various conditions. As a facilitator, she’s passionate about holding space for students and inspiring them to teach – and live – yoga authentically from the heart.
When she’s not on the mat, you’ll find Danielle plotting her next great adventure or completely obsessing over her adorable dog!
“I was fortunate enough to take my YTT with Michelle in the fall of 2023. Her natural talent for teaching, her humble and inclusive approach and her genuine care for others makes her an exceptional teacher and person. Few teachers manage to reach so many students while maintaining an authentic approach. I can’t recommend booking a retreat or teacher training with her enough!” – Fanny
● Learn to confidently teach both Hatha and Vinyasa yoga.
● Build intelligent, well-rounded class sequences that open and prepare the body for a peak pose.
● Practice clear and concise cueing, and offer inclusive modifications and variations for all levels.
● Explore theming and intention-setting to help you connect to your “why” as a teacher.
● Develop your voice and presence while learning how to hold safe and sacred space for others.
● Curate music playlists that align with the rhythm and energy of your classes.
● Explore 51 foundational asanas and their variations from a lens of accessibility, safety, and empowerment — there is no need to “master” poses to teach them effectively.
● Learn to guide Vinyasa and Hatha classes, along with introductions to Yin, Restorative, Prenatal, and Yoga Nidra.
● Practice and teach meditation, pranayama (breathwork), mantra, and mudra, as additional tools for inner stillness and presence.
● Dive deep into the chakra system through a psychological and energetic lens, discovering how to bring this wisdom into your teaching.
*It is NOT a prerequisite to be able to perform advanced postures like Chaturanga or
headstand. This program is about building skill and confidence – not performance or
perfection.
● Study functional anatomy and biomechanics, in order to guide students safely through movement.
● Understand where the body strengthens, opens, compresses, or compensates in each pose.
● Use props and intelligent alignment techniques to support diverse bodies and needs.
● Learn to offer verbal and hands-on assists that feel safe, supportive, and empowering.
● Explore the history and roots of yoga through the lens of Patanjali’s 8-Limbed Path.
● Dive into the Yamas and Niyamas, discussing how to apply yogic values on and off the mat.
● Study the basics of Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, and its practical relevance in modern life.
● Work with the subtle body and chakra system to discover how internal imbalances affect our outer world — and how to find harmony.
What happens after you’re certified? We’ll guide you through the essentials of:
● Marketing, insurance, teaching opportunities, income expectations, and more.
● Navigating Yoga Alliance, legalities, and professionalism.
● Discuss real-world ethical scenarios you may face as a teacher — and how to respond from a place of integrity.
● Practice teaching every day in a supportive, encouraging environment.
● Teach your final class at the end of the training — a celebration of your growth, not a test of perfection.
● Receive personalized feedback and mentorship to help refine your teaching style.
● You’ll leave feeling fully prepared and confident, whether your goal is to teach or simply deepen your understanding of yoga.
How a 3 Week YTT Schedule Works
One of the most beautiful aspects of this training is the community you’ll build. Every YTT creates lasting friendships and a support system that continues long after the program ends.
During these three weeks, you’ll eat, sleep, and breathe yoga together. We encourage vulnerability and open dialogue in a safe, supportive space. You’ll learn that communication isn’t just about cueing poses – listening is equally important, both on and off the mat.
Change is inevitable; transformation is a choice. Some graduates make dramatic life shifts after training, others integrate yoga’s wisdom more quietly. Both paths are perfect. You’ll leave knowing more about yoga and much more about yourself, fully prepared to lead thoughtful, holistic classes – whether in a studio or at home.
● An open mind.
● A willingness to learn, study, and show up fully.
● Some experience with yoga (even if it’s just a few classes). The more experience you bring, the more ease and enjoyment you’ll likely feel – but no mastery is required.

“I had the honor of sharing space with a small group for my first 200 hr YTT with Michelle. She cultivated a truly warm space for spreading knowledge, evoking discussions and seeking love within was encouraged. I was lucky enough to be part of a group she hosted that held each other through pain, hardship and love. This wouldn’t have been possible without Michelle. Her divine energy is contagious and there’s no doubt in my mind that I will seek her guidance again. Learning from her is a gift that keeps giving.” – Kat
