Tamara Chavarría

GUEST TEACHER BIO

Costa Rican Yoga Teacher Tamara Chavarría comes from the country side of Alajuela. She defines herself as a simple woman who loves silence, traveling, nature and art.

She has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, but while in college she discovered her mission in life: to share the practice of Yoga. Today, she spends her time teaching and practicing Yoga, farming, being around nature, drawing and painting… Having balance in her life is the most important way to cultivate peace.

She has been practicing yoga for more than 16 years with international and local yoga teachers, as well as different yoga styles such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Asthanga, Iyengar, Aerial and Krama Yoga (among others).

Tamara obtained her first Hatha Yoga Certificate in 2009 at Yoga Lamat. It was at this special place that Marianela Ortiz and Juan Pablo Barahona invited her to start her path as Yoga Teacher. Since then, she has been committed to her own practice and yoga education by receiving regular trainings in Anusara with Jaye Martin, Om Yoga with Marcos Jassan, Roots of Yoga with Kenny Graham and Hanna Muse; and recently, in 2019, she obtained her last Advance Yoga TT with several international Teachers such Parveen Nair, Edgar Ortiz and Stefano Allegri (among others).

Tamara also has experience in Alternative Therapies includes: Reiki, Thai Yoga Massage and Acupressure, but she has been focused and immersed in Yoga primarily.

Her Yoga style is a combination of Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Krama, Restorative and some use of props related with Iyengar. She enjoys to share creative, safe and progressive sequences that explore the movement of the body and Prana in a meditative state of mind.

Her main focus has been to give students, through the flow of asana and pranayama practice, a self-exploration of their own potential. She invites students to see within themselves, beyond their limits, in a space of silence and continual movement.. exploring the body, mind and their emotions during the practice as a field of evolution for the Spirit.

Curiosity is for her is at the beginning of any practice… then our attention will lead us into a state of connection where knowledge can be revealed.

The theme during the week will be: Be curious about who you are!
