Retreat Details

Our weekly retreats run all year long, so when you book your stay with us the FIRST STEP is to choose the week that works best with your schedule. Every week we have different guest yoga teachers from around the world that come to teach at Anamaya bringing their unique talents and energy. Our retreats run from Saturday to Saturday. 

The price of your retreat starts with your BASE RATE (which includes your accommodations and meals). Excursions, workshops, and other add-ons you choose to customize your week will be added to your final bill at Anamaya.

GUEST TEACHER BIO

Malissa Whited stepped on her mat 25 years ago. It wasn’t something she was really looking for, but Yoga found her in the most serendipitous way. In the midst of her chaotic life, Yoga was the moment of peace, surrender, and inner wisdom that she didn’t even know she needed. It has become a beautiful, guiding force in her life. Its teachings have transformed her through the years, leading her to see more love, compassion, light, and beauty in others, the world, and herself. She is grateful everyday for its ability to break her down and show her the abundant blessings that are provided in life. Her practice is an eclectic fusion of breath work, flowing asana, mindfulness, anatomy, and storytelling. Stories from cultures and religions inspire her to see and teach more ways to be mindful and connected in life. Her classes are educational, created with a therapeutic focus, and are breath centered. She shows multiple levels in her classes to allow her students to manifest an optimal experience in their minds, bodies, and hearts.

Experience: Malissa Whited B.S.,  E-RYT 200 has been a Yoga instructor for over 20 years. She became certified as an AFAA Group Fitness Instructor in 2002, a Yoga Instructor in 2004, and a Stott Mat Pilates Instructor in 2008.  She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Toledo in an individualized program of study in 2013, where her major concentrations of study were health, movement, world religions, psychology and business. She has taught training and workshops in the U.S. and Internationally. Her mission is to heal and elevate the vibration of all beings through Yoga, love, gratitude, and kindness.

Teaching Philosophy

As a yoga teacher, I provide a safe, fun, and educational experience to help my students get curious about life, love, and connection. I believe that everyone is a student, and that by being receptive rather than reactive, we can learn from every experience and each other. Through over two decades of teaching, I have found that the key to healing is more love, and less of everything else. I believe in the power of kindness and the ways it can shift moments and lives. My classes are usually described as yummy. They are created with intention, are therapeutic in nature, and are breath centered. In each class, I try to provide not only a somatic experience, but an experience that creates a positive, healing shift in my students. Come practice with me.

WORKSHOPS

Each of these workshops will address the common misconception that yoga is only for the flexible. Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, shape, or level of flexibility. With practice, anyone can achieve greater mobility and strength in their body and mind.

Join us for this 90-minute, enchanting yoga workshop that will explore the principle of love, and the ways it can transform us into better humans and improve relationships. Participants will learn how to safely and effectively deepen their backbends, release tension in their spines, and open their hearts.

Malissa will guide you through a series of postures and exercises that will challenge you both physically and mentally, while also providing plenty of modifications and variations to suit your individual needs.

Learning to Fly:

Arm balances can be intimidating, but with practice and guidance, they can also be incredibly empowering. This 90-minute workshop will leave you feeling energized and inspired, with a deeper understanding of your body and its capabilities.

Malissa will offer a lovely discussion on how to release the barriers and obstacles that keep us from manifesting our true potential.
