Melody Guini

GUEST TEACHER BIO

Melody is a certified yoga teacher and a facilitator of heart opening through asana, dance and arts. She is a world traveler that has taught yoga everywhere from community schools in Peru, to prisons in Mexico, to studios in New York and Hawaii.

Originally from Argentina, she first started practicing Jivamukti Yoga in 2009 and become fascinated with the depth and wisdom of Yoga.  In 2012 she received her first 200hr RYT certification in Hatha Yoga and then traveled to Peru for her 200hs RYT in Ashtanga Yoga.

Upon her return to Argentina, Melody started teaching while continuing to deepen her studies, assisting in several Anusara and Iyengar Yoga workshops. In 2013 Melody traveled to Mexico to be part of a project devoted to bringing Yoga classes to the imprisoned. Feeling called by the ocean Melody moved to Maui, HI in 2015 where she continues to teach.

In February 2017 she completed a 200hs RYT in Power Yoga (Baptiste school). During COVID, Melody stopped teaching in studios and focused on one-on-one classes, this got her to develop an incredible hands-on flow which is now scoring a hit among her community.

When Melody is off the mat she can be found painting at her art studio in Pa’ia, surfing or sailing.

Melody’s Teaching Philosophy

Melody’s group classes stand out for the fluency of the Vinyasa, influenced by a lifestyle of constant movement, either it’d be surfing, diving, hiking, sailing, dancing, she’s been leading the flow with a rhythmic essence and creative transitions. However, she noticed over time that this lifestyle and community creates numerous frustrations for people expecting to be somewhat they’re not, hence, Melody has this urge to awaken the inner and unique power that lays within ourselves. Her teaching philosophy to guide students to highlight the importance of bringing awareness to oneself, connecting and getting to know who we truly are.

What makes us feel good? What takes too much of our energy? We can use the tools we learn while practicing Yoga to find balance and the answers to these questions. Consciously breathing while we move through powerful asana we unlock stagnant energy and put it in flow through the right channels.

WORKSHOPS

Finding our Raw Self through Pratyahara.

You may have heard about Asana (body posture) and Dhyana (meditation), but there are two
other “limbs” of Yoga between these, which are crucial for the transition into a true meditative state.

In this workshop, we will tap into these two key Yogic components, Pranayama and Pratyahara, as they will strengthen the spirit and bring us closer to the development of higher consciousness.

Together, we will focus on sensing the power of breath through Pranayama (breath work). This will cultivate the calmness and expansion needed to withdraw our awareness from the external world and free the mind to move within (Pratyahara).

Mastering this will stimulate your creativity and inspiration, while also reducing anxiety and physical tension. And for those who love to play on the waves, this workshop will also help expand your lung capacity, leading to improved confidence and skills (especially during those inevitable wipeouts).

This workshop will be happening twice during the 7-day period. The first class will include an introduction and a deeper explanation of our purpose while in the second class we will be diving right into the exercises. It’s highly recommended to come to both classes but not mandatory.

Duration: 1 hour Price: $20/person each session
